Dr. Misty Hatch On The Complexity & Layers of Domestic Violence And How She is Helping Empower Survivors.

Dr. Misty Hatch is a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana and Illinois. She received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and a M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Dr. Hatch has practiced, supervised, researched, and taught in a variety of areas of mental health and wellness. She has experience working with individuals & groups regarding issues including substance use, grief, depression, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem, intimate partner violence, and trauma.

Dr. Hatch has clinical experience in various settings and populations, including, incarcerated adults, juveniles, intimate partner violence, veterans, crisis intervention, structured outpatient substance use program, and nonprofit. In her practice, Dr. Hatch uses a diverse approach when working with her clients, often pulling from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and trauma-informed modalities.

Dr. Hatch is a visiting professor at Valparaiso University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate program. She is a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) through Yoga Alliance and teaches trauma-informed yoga. She has presented nationally and internationally on the role of yoga in trauma and counseling.

In her free time, Dr. Hatch enjoys spending time with her husband Ronnie, on their hobby farm with a variety of residents including mini pigs (Piper, Bubba, and Kevin), mini horses (Cowboy & Koda), mini goats (Dennis, Frank & Mac), mini sheep (Jack & Bobby), rabbits (Buster & Charlie), turkeys (Al & Bullock), dogs (Roxie Snow, Vincent & Otis), cats (Axel, Art & Daisy), and a lot of chickens. She volunteers for a domestic violence hotline and enjoys practicing yoga, running, reading, watching movies, camping and listening to music.
